moving house and relationship dramas

There is nothing like moving house to give your relationship a bit of a shake up.
My mum tells me it is the second most stressful thing to do. But she didn’t follow up with any tips on keeping the relationship safe so I was on my own there, and boy were there a few raised voices.
This whole moving thing was thrust upon me and Dave (the boyfriend) kind of quickly. It was a spur of the moment move. We had already been living together for six months so that wasn’t an issue. The issue was in the actually moving dates (this was before we had even thought about packing).
You see I’m impatient. I’ll happily admit that. But Dave has all the patience in the world. Well I guess he would have to in order to put up with me for that long.
I had the weekend off so I wanted to move in one weekend. Dave had another idea.
“Wouldn’t it make more sense to move over a week and a half?” he states rather than asks. I answered anyway. “No that is a stupid idea why would we want to live between two houses!” And so it went on for a good 15 minutes.
Things eventually calmed down and we went to bed, only with no resolution. So why not start it up again in the morning?
After another 10 minutes and maybe a little bit of female hormones making me oh so dramatic I ended up saying I agreed with him (even though I didn’t).
So it was settled.
The weekend came and we started moving.
I subtly suggested again why don’t we try move everything in one weekend. Turns out I was right and it was possible.
When it came to the physical moving I more than pulled my weight! And there were no argument to be had. I carried lounges, a super heavy computer table, beds and I also unpacked everything.
No one can complain I’m not an awesome girlfriend. And I know how to get my own way! :)
